How we got here

Nine years, two cities, and one very persistent dog.

It started on a bus going the wrong way in the rain, which is not the story either of us would have picked, but it is the one we got. The whole thing, including the part where Sam forgot the name of the book he was reading, is written down for you.

Saturday, in order

The day at a glance

One place, one afternoon, no shuttling between venues. If you only make part of it, make the part you want. Nobody is counting.

  1. 4:00 PMCeremony under the pergolaTwelve minutes, start to finish. Seats are in the shade and the back row still sees everything.
  2. 5:00 PMCocktails on the lawnThe chairs get carried off while you drink something cold. There will be shade, and there will be dogs from the farm next door.
  3. 6:30 PMDinner at the long tablesFamily style at one long table, passed hand to hand. Three speeches, all of them short.
  4. 8:00 PMDancing until the lights go outTwo sets from the band, then the playlist. Pie arrives around nine when nobody is expecting it.

The lights go out at 11:30 sharp, because the garden has neighbors and we would like to be invited back.

A note on dessert

“Yes, there will be pie instead of cake. No, we will not be taking questions.”

Coming from out of town

Where to sleep, where to park, what to wear

Cedar Hollow is small enough to walk across and big enough to have three places worth staying in. We have listed them, along with the parking situation, the plan if it rains, and what garden formal actually means in June.

All the practical bits

The only thing we need from you

Please say yes

One short form, two minutes, and we can stop counting chairs. If you already know you cannot make it, tell us that too. We would rather know.
